Stop dwelling on the negative and do something different.

Life's too short to dwell on things

that pull and tear on your heart strings

so park those thoughts that make you worry

and create new goals to which you'll hurry.

Make your list of things to do

that always seemed not part of you

make yourself explore unknowns

write down your thoughts dig up those bones

Take a step toward things that scare you

Show who's boss while mind prepares to

overcome what seems unrealistic

before you lose it and go ballistic

Do something different every day

and watch as life shows new path ways

Life's too short to dwell on things

that pull and tear on your heart strings.

I love your article and your positive approach to life.

Many years ago I discovered Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's writings and have promoted my own positive thinking ever since then. I've come to believe that life, first, is one's state of mind, and we can choose to live in the confusion of negativism or we can choose the more peaceful and positive condition to live by.

Stay positive,
Jeanette

A beautiful poem with many inspiring words of wisdom, for life is very short...it seems when we are young we have all the time in the wold and a day seemed to last a week, today a day seems only as moments...wise words that we should live each day to the fullest and experience the unknown and expand our lives with creativity and life itself! Well done, enjoyed this much so glad I stopped by. I also needed to read this, especially the final stanza as it has been a rough week for me.

Amen to this injunction.
All too often we miss out on achieving our potential because of our fears (ungrounded) and lack of self - confidence. Moreover, the framework for us to fulfil our goals, ambitions, aims etc is indeed within that of a short, unpredictable lifespan.

I know what this poem speaks of. It all lies in the bones for me. I have a coyote skeleton lying near my prayer circle about 225 steps out my back door. The nights animals rearrange them and I visit in the morning to read the bones. Always new messages left for me to show me new pathways. Great write, Michael! All we can do is offer a positive thought. It is up to those to think positively and act accordingly.
