Callie the Cat Rescued
Fear held fast in her eyes as traffic zoomed and whipped by.
Unmoving was this tiny small ball of fur as traffic continued to whir.
Parking my car I had no clue….had she been hit…what now to do.
Walking now down the center line of the street was I.
That’s when she saw me and looked me straight in the eye.
I scooped her up, her bones and ribs I could surely feel.
Home she came with me for a little milk and a decent meal.
We call her Callie and for her we just want to do what’s best.
That is why this afternoon she will have a visit to the vet.
Ah, but I am quickly in my home running out of room.
Another mouth to feed, a little baby in need,
but when on my chest she kneads, my heart smiles and swoons.
Still are we feeding by syringe our first stray.
But by prayer our little Sparky gets better each day.
I need a farm…I need more space, I need more room.
Maybe someday this I will be able to find.
Then lots of little animals I could save over time.
