Tis The Season Of Hope?

It is the season of hope, a season to be filled with family, love and joy.

Yet the chill of winter; the darkened gray days steal away at the bone.

The naked limbs of summer’s trees contrast against the dark low hanging clouds of the winter day.

The lights of Christmas past burn bright in windows now grown dark.

Whispers come in short burst upon the north wind; the evening sky stark.

Hope knocks lightly on the door, shadows dressed as memories dance silent in the hall.

Come ye merry gentleman…silent grows the night…

We wish you all a merry Christmas, and may all your days be bright.

Snow and candy canes; presents under the tree.

Fake smiles with false cheers; crowded stores with pretense glee.

Knock, knock comes hope; ding dong the bell does still ring.

Shadows still dance and the songs of yesterday in hearts sing.

Tis the season of hope, I hope.

As on unsure dreams I silently grope.

Very inspiring J.Allen, a timely poem that people need to read these times when hope seems to be the commodity that's out of stock in our hearts.

Well done! True to form for some. Hopefully most will celebrate the reason for the season. Amen

Very upbeat except for maybe that last line, but at least u got warmer temps down your way as today at the beach it was 30 degrees with a strong northwesterly wind dropping the temp to like 20 or less...enjoyed this write, though, it felt really right...e

You unmask the Shamta Clause with aplomb that takes the Crassmas cake... and shows this seizure of a season for the flim flammery it has become... fortunately there are still a few among us who cherish the true meaning of what has increasingly become a wholy mercantile hauliday.
