The Innocent Grass
The face that destiny wears does not visibly show,
It is not one we are prepared for or one we know;
The face that we display to others
Is often disguised by a necessary cover.
We walk, blessed and damned, along life's path
Searching and seeking, while we cry and laugh,
Holding the strength that lies within our grasp,
Sometimes as fragile as a blade of innocent grass.
We walk each morning facing a day which is new,
Hoping the walk is beneath a sky that's blue;
The hand of fate often distorts our view,
And we find it hard to know what is and is not true .
The face of life is one in which we trust,
The good is sometimes covered by a layer of dust,
But even in the hardest of times we believe the bad will pass,
And with our strength we will endure, as does, the innocent grass.
The search for our purpose is an endless quest
And just when we feel secure destiny alters our life
Like an unwelcomed guest;
But, somehow, we know, no matter how bleak the hour,
Sweet will follow and replace what is now sour,
With strength we hold to the belief that the pain will pass,
That again we will be nurtured like a blade of innocent grass.
Without hiding we have to face the unexpected,
With faith that when lost we will again be directed,
And although we cannot predict tomorrow,
And a crystal ball is but a piece of glass,
We are as strong as the winter that gives way at last---
To the new season and the rebirth of the innocent grass.
Walk a little longer when the shadows appear,
Be a little stronger when the rain clouds won't disappear,
Believe the cast of darkness will come to pass,
And soon, again, you will be blooming as does the
Blade of innocent grass.

|We always won't know what the future holds for us, but as long as we have dreams and hopes the future will look brighter. Wonderful write.
