Who would have expected to run into an old friend and former neighbor, in a bookstore, located in another city from where they both had lived? You never know what lies just around the corner...

Deep in thought
Selecting a new book
Bumping into someone
As I turned the corner

A complete surprise
An old friend and neighbor
Browsing the bookstore
In another aisle

"Can I buy you
A cup of coffee?
Let's catch up
On old times"

"Your Divorced?
Me too
How long?"
Do you feel as lonely
As I do at times?

"Are you free for dinner?
Please don't say no
Will you give me your address?
Wonderful, I'll pick you up
At 7:00 P.M. on the dot!"

Dinner, wine and soft music
Wonderful, lively conversation
Dancing in his arms didn't feel
As foreign as I thought it would

An awkward pause at
My front door...
As he took my key
And slowly unlocked the door,
Never tearing his eyes
Away from my surprised gaze

"Can I come in for coffee?
We still have so much
Catching up to do
I won't stay long, I promise"

To be continued.....

It is akin to a fairytale when romance finds its way by chance...too many missed opportunities pass us by and we often are left later in our lives to wonder...what if? Now off to pt 2 to find what destiny has in store for this couple.

Great start. I am certainly one that is well into "chance meetings."
"I won't stay long, I promise!" Ha, words said so many times by so many men... Okay, on to part two.
