Skin tingles in response to that sound

as melody and rhythm coalesce

kidnapping me along for the ride,

reaching up towards completeness.

Five minutes of serenity, of ecstasy,

when thought and music are one;

a vacation for the mundane,

a shield from reality

a glimpse of a parallel world

of joyful synchronicity

which then fades into a vast silence

that will never be filled so, never again,

leaving just a sharp residual light

and a desperate heart, hungry for more.
