This is my offering for the opening poem for the soon to be released book, MENDER OF SOULS, from Award Winning author, JESSIE WISE
I am so excited to be asked to write the opening poem for her third novel!
So after you read the book you will hopefully ponder - is the poem about the hero or the horse? Perhaps it is about both...

Running into the sunset
the stallion's eyes gleam
focused and determined
mane blowing in the wind
never looking back
he will not be tamed
he will kill to be free
death more welcome
than being conquered
or imprisoned.
Unable to be subdued
by any man
steadfast he alone knows
with fierce pride
he is not running away but
running towards life,
towards love,
towards a new tomorrow.
Always the mender of souls
searching to mend his own...

Caryn, Hope this day is sunny for you.
I have read, "Mender of Souls". I found it stirred my 'Soul'. One can hear and feel the wind as this Stallion is galloping. And ,yes it can be inferred that the steed is a young man.
