We sit alone in this room
smiling and playing this game
We have played this game
so many times with others
sometimes we win
sometimes we lose
I throw down the 10 of Spades
you throw down the Jack of Hearts
and swiftly rake in the trump.
We pore out our hearts to each other
I listen, you listen
you promise, I promise
You throw down the nine of Hearts
I throw down the Queen of Hearts
and for the moment
I have won.
Such sweet things you say
you say you mean them only for me
yet I know better
I play the Jack of Spades
you throw the King of Hearts
and smile thinking yourself so clever.
We both hold one card.
You throw the King of Diamonds
I stall and try to study your face,
but you can't look me in the eye.
I play the Ace of Hearts
and standing lean over to kiss your lips
Giving you a kiss you will never forget
Then I whisper to you softly,
"I won
and you have lost.
I've tired of this game with you
I would have gladly let you win,
but I have learned it is better to play fair".
You sit and say nothing
and in turning to leave the room
I sadly look back at you
and still you sit there
No more cards to play
No more hearts to trump
and one last time I casually reply,
"Find someone else to play with my love,
for I am bored with this game.
I'm off now to find a better way
to spend my time
for that is what winners do"....

Well...The ace of heart to me means...New love, new beginings, the ship has set sail to new wonders, for no longer shall your winds be in my face, only at my back. For my calling is at sea,to fallow my dreams...
That is where my heart is at...!
Blue eyed fish... |
