There lived a chicken brown and plump -
Calypso clucked and twitched her rump -
She'd seen a skein of geese soar by,
and wished so hard that she could fly.
Her hen friends warned, "you'll look a chump -
At this, Calypso got the hump.
"OK - watch me".
She heaved and puffed and took a jump -
into a tree.
Her branch bent and began to sway,
her friends squawked, "Flap! and steer this way;
you're such a bird-brained, stubborn grump -
Calypso's wings began to pump -
"Don't you call me a flightless frump.
I'm flying - wheeee."
And for one moment, she was right;
The chicken sailed in glorious flight,
before descending - crash, bang, WHUMP!
Calypso was a clumsy lump -
no goose was she.
She landed with a painful thump -
Though sore and bruised, Calypso drew
delight from that fine day she flew.
The henhouse now looked less a dump -
to Calypso Spree.
