Impression of a woman

Her skin ablaze with time’s events

Her eyes downcast, lest thoughts revealed

Her mind a maze of life’s contents

Expression masked - a folded shield

She bears her tapestry of years

In red of rage and purple coy

Green of envy, grey of fears

Blue of sorrow, orange joy

The structure of her face defined

Tenaciousness on brow-line firm

Her inner strength on jaw designed

To stand defiant, on her terms

Ochre flares of vigour seek

To hint at spark in hidden eyes

Gentle contour, soft of cheek

Her loving nature in disguise

This vibrant woman, captured thus

In all her radiant, glorious hue

Her character bestowed on us

Each glowing shade, a vital clue

Our artist sees her in mind’s eye

Each brush-stroke brings his vision forth

His canvas yields, without decry

Impression of intuitive worth.

Ruan,
The artist had caught the multifaceted nature of his subject in the varying auras of her complexity. You have given a wonderful song to the visual portrail, your adept pen has added greatly to the artist brush, thank you for your depth of preception.

That wasn't my intention, Pat. Was just talking about the painting.

I think this is a wonderfully penned portrait of this photo of the woman, and one that you can be proud of. I have always liked poems which dig inside the portraits and find what is missing from the naked eye, and you have done that quite well here.

you've aptly explained why men will NEVER be able to figure us out. This is magical....now the counterpart...a kalidescope of man...hmmm
