Love is like a red, red rose

Wrapt velvet cloth and warmth that glows

Resplendent in its glorious pose

Abundant in the heart that flows

But short-lived, be such grandiose

For cloth that fades in sunlight’s throws

And red to russet, Burns' hallows

Until the love be black as crows

Decayed and rotted, beauty goes

A chilled and icy cold wind blows

Capricious in just what it chose

That love becomes a dead red rose.

A love sheltered in the petals. To the loss of love
for the blossom to dry and crumble. Splendid write Ruan.

Short-lived love - very tragic, indeed.

love not based on the lasting qualities hurts everyone. unfortunately we usually can not spot the difference in the begining as the passion over rules taking the time to be sure.

In all beginnings the rapture of love burns strongly,
if the love is true it will last a lifetime and
every endearing change will be a portrait etched in
ones mind.

I too like your picture Ruan
It only becomes sad that this love was so shallow

Love the new pic.

You wrote a perfect definition of the word love, Ruan. Egos. Pettiness. Selfishness. Mamma's boy. Dominate woman. Those are but a few things which give love a very bad name. I've decided to just "like" the fair sex these days. Have to be careful though, if I start liking them a lot, the damnable word "love" creeps in and spoils everything.
