His Mid-life Crisis

The years of support I gave
Steadfastly here through thick and thin
Listening to you rant and rave
I wished that I had thicker skin

I know that life, to us, was cruel
And distant forces wore us down
But never thought you'd call a duel
And turn on me to hoist your crown

I prayed that things would come to rest
Hung on to what life was before sought to put me to the test
I dreamed of what might be in store

I always felt that we were strong
That side by side we'd battle through
It seems I couldn't be more wrong
You didn't stand by me - did you!

You blamed me for your working strife
And all that came to pass your days
Then, on me, vent your rage at life
Oh how I paid in countless ways!

You cheated, then deceived amid
your constant fits of ruthless rage
...used to shield your selfish bid
And burned your bridges stage by stage

You bullied and estranged my heart
With all your fierce vindictive might
Until at last, quite torn apart
I saw my love move out of sight

The hate you've shown has worn me down
Aggressive in its demonstration
Now wary of your slightest frown
My future's up for contemplation

Betrayed by you, my soul mate gone
(Reluctantly) I cease to trust
For now it seems I must move on
The love we had has turned to dust.

Out of the ashes rises the Phoenix. You have simplified a very complex situation. When life is in chaos, often putting things in writing, and you do it so well, brings things back to a much more manageable perspective. M.True

Brilliant, Ruan.

Succinctly said, precisely done
With so much glee and so much fun;
And that is why in times like these
Fukitol is the new bee’s knees.

So sadly intense and penned with a strong voice. Keep writing the feelings.

Chin up my friend. Your best foot forward!
Forgetaboutem! Take care of you.

Sounds to me you let it go way too far. There should have been a point long before midway (if this all pertains to you), to say what do I deserve. Then waved goodbye

Like Ron, Forgetaboutem!

Doesn't get anymore plainer that that, Ruan, and I am very sorry you have been put through this turmoil. There are many reason for love to lose its luster, and from what I am reading here I think, in this case, there was a child inside a man's sin. I'm wishing you all the very best.

Oh, and the 60g of Fukitol . . . Gotta love it . . .
