 rewind . . .

sometimes

i wish

rewind

was more

than

just an option

on my old vhs player

rewind,

and

take me back

to moments

that stole

upon me

took me

by surprise

rewind,

to the start

and let me

savor

once again

every little thing

the laughter

the uncertainty

the discovery

of something

i’m lost without

rewind,

to a day

simply spent

together

nothing notable

but

unforgettable

nothing incredible

but

forever indelible

etching

a friendship

on the dearest

of stones

writing

a song

only

we know

painting

an image

none can

erase

rewind,

and let me

do it over

again

exactly

the same . . .

there’s

nothing

i’d change
