Twila Twilight
Twila twilight just hangs in the sky,
Watching every night the stars shoot by,
She dreams of being a bright star someday,
But until then in the sky she’ll stay.
One night Twyla Twilight was sitting in her room,
Looking out her window at the crescent moon,
When all of a sudden a falling star she did see,
And began to wonder is there anyone besides me.
Now the twinkling of the stars was Twyla’s light,
As she hung around the sky at night.
For Twyla is a star you see,
And she wishes not to be.
Now Twila is just a little star,
That cannot be seen from that far.
She knows no one can see her at all,
And dreams one day of taking that fall.
And when she becomes a human being she’ll be,
All bright and lovely for the world to see.
She’ll be able to be whatever she dreams,
And she’ll dance around like bright sunbeams.
She’ll live and laugh and have some fun,
And be able to feel the warmth of the sun.
Then Twila can look up into the sky,
And see all the shooting stars go by.
And gasp at this wondering sight,
That can only be seen late at night.
For Twila now can live and play,
And do many things in the light of day.
She can feel the wind blow across her face,
And touch the finest clothing lace.
She can feel the coldness of the snow,
And see beautiful colors of a rainbow.
She’ll be not lonely and make lots of friends,
And have them around if the dream ends.
But little Twila just hangs in the sky,
Thinking of life and begins to cry.
For Twila’s just a little star you see,
And she wishes not to be.
But Twila will cheer up and be quite bright,
If you wish upon her… late at night.
