You were the one who kept me grounded,
When my wings wanted to take flight.
You gave me hope and inspiration,
When my mind had no insight.

You were my mentor and my dream,
Kept me calm when I wanted to scream.
You saw beyond the outer crust,
And helped me to believe in trust.

You took my soul that was dark and meek,
And made my future no longer bleak.
My lonely heart learned how to touch,
And began to love you very much.

You gave me a smile when I had none,
No longer was I the lonely one.
Now I hold you dear to my heart,
And together our souls will never part.

You were the one who kept me grounded,
When my wings wanted to take flight.
You gave me hope and inspiration,
When my life had been so slight.

Very beautiful romantic piece of praise, however I am uncertain how it ties in with its title...It may be an inside thought perhaps that the reader may not be privy to?...I was hoping for an explanation in the ending as I read it and found it (as if it were missing), at least, one more stanza to balance it out. This is such a heartwarming poem just the same.

When you say “you,” I hope that you are talking to “me.” But I really think that you're not. So, forget about it. ;-)
