And yet another tragedy in our family.
Our granddaughter was killed in a car accident just a few days ago. Just twenty years of age, she was more like a daughter to us. She always told me I looked too young to be a grandpa, so she called me DonnieBoy. I just had to write this poem.

Shannon
She is now forever gone
her laughter is silent now.
We must somehow carry on,
But I really can’t see how.

I wish I could have said to her
The things felt in this poem,
whenever she had called to ask
if grandma might be home.

I’d just say I’ll tell her,
Or to call her on her cell.
She’d ask how I was feeling,
And I would tell her very well.

Then she would say the words
That always brought me joy.
Words that I cannot retrieve,
I love you DonnieBoy

And all I can say is,   Bye.

                       Don
.
