How Do You Say Goodbye

How do you say goodbye
to the one who gave you breath?
The one who held your tiny hands
as you took those first little steps.

The man who's given shelter to you
from much more than worldly trials.
The first man who made your heart soar
with just a simple loving smile.

How do you bid farewell
to this precious unsung hero?
Whose shoulder's felt a thousand tears
from the very depths of your soul.

The man who put the world at your feet
and made you know that you could conquer it.
Whose wisdom and gentle guidance
made your path clear and sunlit.

How do you say goodbye
when there's so much more to be said?
More than your heart can ever pour out;
more tears than you could ever shed.
