Lonely? or Alone?

To be alone
And to be lonely
Ain't the same . . .
No

A lonely mind
Takes notice of its loneliness and weeps
But if the mind is merely alone
It has a peaceful soul

Lonely only hears the bells
Chime for "them"
Heaven is bleak and gray
Brutal Sky rains down hurt

Like an approaching tide
Drinking greedily from a lonely mind
N'er sated until nothing is left

Nicely done, Jerry....there's a striking difference between two such similar words and states of mind...

It is no coincidence I guess, that the acronym for your title is LOA... the lonely soul is on a Leave Of Absence... from others, from itself... a tragic truth brought home with force and finesse in your poem today, my friend.

You are so right, sometimes I do feel lonely however, but it's because I miss my soul mate. Lovely poetry as always, and yes being alone can be peaceful and serene.

Much peace, love and light,
