Never has a sound been so chilling
One that can rip the heart from a man.
One that I usually ache to hear
but today I felt its icy depth.
Were it but sound I would have frozen
yet still its bite haunts my waking thoughts.
I had went about our normal course
and called to hear the music of you.
We could not speak, but maybe later
as i know are our daytimes haggard.
I waited and tried once more after
hoping to bring a smile to your day.
With words i'd written to you with love.
But the reception was unwanting
nor with even a slight hint of warmth
were the rules yet again rewritten.
I go about the day in wonder
What was done or has something happened
Never has a sound been so chilling.
