Time never stands still it continues to move
Too soon another year has come and gone
We all pray that the future will only improve
Each day is a gift brought by the early dawn

When younger I would celebrate the new
As I grew wiser I would celebrate the old
Now I celebrate without any of the brew
And each moment is valuable as pure gold

I crossed a lot of bridges and burned a few
Navigating the nuances of everyday life
Being a smart assed rebel without a clue
Until they split me with that surgical knife

I am trying to snowplow the downward slope
Trying to slow that race to the end of time
Each breath gives me a new desire and hope
Though the body is weak my mind is prime

My old desires and new dreams continue to fly
My pleasure and my pride comes from living
Living is sharing and on life I can get high
No more a spectator, I must continue giving
