Itís the soft whisper of your voice,

The tenderness of your touch

That draws me near.

In your heart I see,

The pureness of this magnetism

That speaks its greatness

In the living wind we know.

In your world

All that we see is not that you see

We live like fools in a race

Against time

And against hope.

You will to live,

Will to hope.

You draw your strength from around you

Yet you do not drain those dear to you.

How little do we know,

Us little people of the world,

That strive to meet each day

With what strength we have

With what energy we lack

Yet you have this energy that we do not

You are a stranger to our world,

A believer in what we can accomplish

Not in what we have not.

Where will you go now?

Will you leave me astray?

Though you shatter the world

Refurbishing its composition

To look like a well-pruned tree,

You leave me to bits

In tatters and snares

With no healing touch

No warmth to spare.

Now I leave you be

In your harming ways

To break and shatter another heart

Yet build your empire into a cathedral

A place where only greatness lies.

Your own heart lies like the enemy,

A lion waiting to pounce on its victim

Awaiting its kill,

Waiting, pondering, then jumping with all of your might.

Enjoy your success

And your new life

All the best

Forever yours.

So well written, Barbara, and very thought provoking. We have much in common. Like you I had written for as long as I can remember, yet became a financial officer (accounting)-- among other careers. While I was good at all of them...after all, I was taught to be the best at whatever I did... I hated each: except counseling. As you said, my satisfaction and pleasure and joy was and remains in writing. Visit me sometime.
