Peeling The Truth

The cliff towers

Above jagged rocks

The ocean far below

I climb to the top

Where I stand alone and remember

A gust of wind carries a tear

To the place where his ashes dwell

I can’t help but wonder

Is his spirit in heaven

Or

Is it still here

Somewhere beneath the sea

I long for a miracle

That will take us back

To a place that will never be

I cling onto remnants

From the past

Though

They leave an ache in my soul

My shoulders are shaking

My hands are too

As I lift a tortured prayer

Then slowly I feel

The warmth of the sun

As it rises above the clouds

In His marvelous greatness

He answers the plea

Torn from the pit of my heart

My smile stretches broad

Stem to stern

My heart leaps for joy

He’s got a new address

That brother of mine

In the arms of Eternal Love

A very nice tribute to a brother, any brother. I like the last stanza.

Kathleen you have wrung tears fom me both for your sad tale here told so bravely that I relate to in the loss of my brother, and the gripping way you express your grief and the comforting epitomy you reach. I invite you to read a poem of mine, called "Dear Lord" and I think if you do you will see we come to a similar place in which to lay down at least some of that grief. Thank you for your comment on Hummingbird, and thank you for this offering. Well done indeed. Be well, Kathy

beautiful....there are invisible strings between some brothers and sisters that go beyond understanding leaving us near inconsolable in the letting go...
