A dying man reviews his stormy life with much regret and fear...

One opportunity…

Black and White…

Sorry, No guarantees / No refunds / No restarts

Sorry, No points for pity, or remorse or second guessing

Sorry, No rule book…

One hand dealt, fleetingly fast, fragile (Angel wings stenciled in ice)

Chronological spans… A silvery linier ribbon - shimmering, smooth and clean - Unstoppable

Slip-slip-slip

Dirty crumbled paper – the engine of life - trickling in (maple syrup from a tree), gushing out (a severed artery)

A grouping of tender lambs, assembled – indifferent and unconcerned.  For those who know, the beginning of everything…  For them, an inconvenience to be endured, one agonizing echoing tick - then another, another… a-n-o-t-h-e-r…

The temporal beats so slow in the eyes of a tender lamb – hurry-hurry-hurry, now-now-now…  So breakneck for those who know…

The guardians, the caretakers - councils unheard, breadcrumbs ignored…

Slip-slip-slip

A small room, barren, bleak – computerized contraptions, hard and white, blinking blue and green.  These colors.  Oh, these colors!  The symbols of Summer, the symbols of freedom.  The symbols of youthful blissful worry-free joys…

A crooked smile.  Chestnut eyes, pained, far-away, haunted…  A happy memory, a sad regret…

The women in and out – their Picasso suites failing miserably to signal their intended cheer.  One, dark-long-sleek, seeing but not…  Once upon a time, but no more…

Slip-slip-slip

Cuisine for the fun of it!  Bloating before (thick chunk of pasty white meat, slick with sweat), slaying now

The white paper sticks yielding comforting fog - soothing, deadly…

Sweet, long, warm embraces, (base and untamed, fierce and guttural) – legion…  Who knew then?

Traffic on the clean, treed streets below.  Their time will come.  But not before here.  What to give but to be them…  (Always the desire to be “them”)…

Slip-slip-slip

The dragons!  Ah yes the dragons!  Flying!  Wild and free! – To the tender lamb, fabled creatures, to be dueled or befriended in many a leafy suburban backyard paradise…  Then, neon-colored two-wheeled screaming metaphors…

Missing the dragons…

Slip-slip-slip

Another crooked smile

Slip-slip-slip

Work-livelihood-occupation – Unfocused, aloof, listless… too damn late…

Slip-slip-slip

Slip-slip-slip

Cohorts / Kin – Abused, forgotten, abandoned.  Black-Orange embers on a waning pyre…  A heaping grave of smoldering discarded ash

Slip-slip-slip

Slip-slip-slip

Chestnut eyes suddenly hard, focused…  Not a gun in sight now…  No savior…

Slip-slip-slip

Slip-slip-slip

Slip-slip-slip

Back to the stars from whence we came…

Slip-slip-slip

Slip-slip-slip

Slip-slip-slip

Eternity…
