Lost Moment

I search the depths of heaven
praying and hoping to see
only the darkness greets my eyes
a storm within is blowing free.

Its breath has extinguished my candle
shadows have replaced my once bright light.
A chill of emptiness flows through me
I'm slowly drifting from sight.

The lonliness courses through me
building an ache within my heart
My hopes, my dreams, and all I hold dear
Scattered miles apart.

Alone I stand in the darkness, alone I see
As I lose those precious parts of me
My spirit slowly fades away
Is this all I'm ever to be? A mere memory.

I look behind to see what remains
tiny fragments of what used to be me.
Forward I turn to face my future
Is this what I'm ever to be?

Within this deep abyss of shadows
A shimmering light suddenly appears,
my heart begins to race
It slowly floats towards me, enclosing me safe in its warm embrace.

And it's at that moment, my eyes truly see
that in my mind and heart, it was me who refused to see.
Love grows stronger and deeper, no matter the distance
And that one "Lost Moment" was only with me.

Beautifully written, Victoria, and true to fact: loneliness and despair are within, never without. It reminds me of my own "Ice Princess" revealing that the greatest love of all is that which we find within ourselves. You have talent. Perhaps, when you have time, you will visit my A/D webpages: view "The Ice Princess" and my books both romance and Biblical.
