After the Storm

Sparkling lights up in the sky
Illuminating all that it passes by
It’s beautiful and bright in the deep, dark night
Those brief, but silken flashes of light.

In the morning, it ceases to be
Just teardrops remaining upon the tree
The remnants of a storm gone away
Bringing with it another magnificent day.

The sun rises up, spreading its smiles.
Over and over for miles and miles.
Flowers awaken from their restful night’s sleep.
To blossom and dig their roots in deep.

Honeybees awaken in their bee hives
Other creatures just coming alive.
Not knowing what lies in each day ahead.
Survival is what they think of instead.

Animals feel safe within their lair
But soon, commotion fills the air
Rabbits leave their hiding place
To scurry about with such splendid grace.

Songbirds are heard in merry beat
While woodpeckers oh so joyfully compete
Off they fly to build nests that will be
A place to raise their young in harmony.

The storm is forgotten by all or none
It’s over, but will never be done.
Those tears that were left behind
Brings growth and love within the mind.
