Maybe the whole thing
fits in the hand ~~
the world
a turnip
an answer
effort
truth
help.
Maybe the whole thing
is the hand.

"Maybe the whole thing is the hand."
One thing's for sure...you are excellent at drawing a hand, an accomplishment that escapes many who are otherwise talented artistically. I admire your ability!
I think Richard is on the right track with his opening comment, because this sketch certainly seems like the hand of God. The wisdom of eternity is in His hand, and He has the answers to all of our maybes. Perhaps the artist senses this as she is seeking answers.
That reminds me of a Bible passage in James chapter 1 in the Bible: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Hugs,
Connie

Immediately reminded me of the old rollicking hymn, 'He's got the whole world in His hands, He's got the whole wide world in His hands'. Yup! Aside from how the obvious imagery unfolds in the intellect - hand remains the mystery, djl; a multifaceted metaphor that spreads jelly atop the peanut butter, or, wields the weapon that takes another life, that tills the soil to bring forth the harvest... perhaps the cards held in a card game, or, my favorite being, a rotating pointer on the face of a timepiece... these possibilities can excel individually ad infinitum. Whatever the heart and soul conjures, time passes, irrevocably, and hands pass responsibilities to other hands. Intriguing metaphor. Peace ... rlc

Brilliant Diana!
Yes, the multi-faceted way you have written of the hand is filled with beautiful images.

Maybe - if only we had many more hands helping today we could find out.

Should I stay or should I go? It keeps coming into my head. Should we take the blue pill or the red? Maybe the whole thing is in the hand. Either you are brilliant, or you are a mental sadist ( and I mean that in the nicest of ways)...maybe you are both. Anyway, you got a "grip" on me with this one! Be well, Kathy

With hand as metaphor, containment and discipline of mind and heart suggests that no amount of answer theory warrants consideration if it exists in free fall. Such, it could be argued, is the state of both the intrinsic heart beat of man (a virtual out-of-rhythm life force) , as well as the many optional answers man has created with any number of scientific, as well as faith-believing doctrines positing "The answer." Most likely, the whole thing is the hand. A worthy cocktail hour discussion, for sure.

Some definite logic to this, Diana. As intelligent as we like to think we are we still don't know a hell of a lot about anything concerning origin, blah, blah, blah. Hah! I used to give some consideration to the theory that there is another "world" out there (or right next door) which is just like ours. This other world has the same people populating it, and everything that happens here, happens there, except that every thing is exactly the opposite. (Gets complicated) I know one thing, if there is another world like ours and there is another Jerry Pat Bolton, he has had a great time and life has been good to him . . . er . . . . just the opposite of how my life has gone for most of my life.
