What snaps in the mind of a killer?

His footsteps echoed on the pavement
As he made his way one night
Through winding streets down by the river
To a bend that's out of sight

He stared into the deep cold water
Trying to forget the sound
A body makes when it is sinking
Bricks tied so it won't be found

He wished those eyes would stop their staring
From the depths into his own
Holding his head he still could hear her
Laughing as he stood alone

The constable found a man floating
In the river late last night
He said he heard a  woman's laughter
From a bend that's out of sight

Who this man was or where he came from
No one knew within the town
There was just one who came to view him
Seemed she smiled as she looked down

Ghostly, macabre, like the long black veil. I have limited access to AD at the moment; I'm from the UK, my heart's in the highlands and the Wicklow mountains. :-)

I Love This!! :) I adore dark poetry!!
You capture the awesomeness of shadowy emotions
and his turmoil to haunt him as he hears her laughing from
beyond her watery grave...
you may like a show called DEXTER, it is my all time favorite series
he is a serial killer who only kills serial killers, and he slices
them up in all sorts of demented ways, and then takes the sectioned
body parts and cast them into the sea in black plastic yard bags
and his boat is called "Slice Of Life" lol

The mind of a killer...
of course they are caught in the end
They are all Sociopaths... some quite
intelligent... I have read on all of
them :) Of course my favorite course
of study is Abnormal psychology...

And this soul did get caught in the
end!

Excellent

Ah, the living dead. Seems like there's a lot of those around these days. A very interesting and appropriately scary story you weave on your poetry web and pull them in.
