The Wee People...

Leprechaun', what a nice little legend...

The Wee People…

Little do I know regards Leprechaun’

Only what I see or hear on TV,

Of little people with ears so pointed,

A pot of gold saved & thereby anointed,

At the end of the rainbow, usually we are disappointed…

Try as we might, we never find that pot of gold,

They hide it away, out of sight, possessing it till they are old,

Do they become gray when they are old, or do they turn green?

What a nice little Legend has been created, it is a scream…

But to be honest, I say leave it be, speak of it to all that see,

Explain it to the youngest child,

And to those of us who don’t know, me,

Don’t try to change it for a better society,

This legend has been around for hundreds of centuries…

So fun are the Irish people in general, I hear,

Never having visited their beautiful country, not even near,

Would love to someday, just to find and play,

With a Leprechaun with a pointed ear…
