Sorry no picture of Rags so imagine a sheepdog mutt in gray & white...

Rags was part sheepdog no doubt,

Everybody loved him though he was hard of hearing,

To get his attention we all had to shout,

But he was my dog though dad took most care of him,

Mom was there sometimes too, or just about…

He was with us till I was about seventeen,

Then one day he was amongst the missing,

Mom said dad took him to put to sleep,

He was like a fixture around the house,

Until then I did not notice he was gone,

He suffered in his old age, his teeth falling out…

Rufuz came around when I was maybe forty-five,

But it was like being a kid again, no lie,

There were times when I thought I’d kill him,

But for the most part he made me feel sky high…

Old Rufuz was my boy; I miss him quite great,

We ran the beach together & rode everywhere,

He loved the ocean like his daddy too,

For all the time we had him, he was the best...

Except when he lifted his leg on his mommies bed,

And tore up a few things that belonged to Rene,

She wasn’t happy; she said he is YOUR dog, Ed…

Gone is he now, I miss him with all my heart,

But times are tighter, I couldn’t of him afford,

Hopefully he still has a good family,

And hopefully I will see them both again...

Maybe when I cross Rainbow Bridge,

Before entering the Gates of Heaven,

I will get to see my two guys again…

Say, Ed, Rags and Rufus will be with you as long as you
can write. So breathe in that ocean air and write on.
