House of Yesteryear

Thought's of the many wooden houses falling down along the country roads in Mississippi.

House of Yesteryear

Broken down house—of yesteryear

Littered with relics of the past

Tractor wheel, gallon jug, old tin cans

All have come to rest—at last.

Farmland—crop rows of yesteryear

Abandoned—through weeds—still visible

Long time ago, fed many mouths

Now a relic of the past—perceptible.

Ó1983 William Lowenkamp
