If wishes were horses,
then beggars could ride
and instead of being lonely
I could be by your side.

If wishes were horses,
The moon would be blue
and you'd notice me
like I notice you.

If wishes were horses
there would be no pain,
I'd look into your eyes
and you'd kiss me again.

If wishes were horses,
then things would be fine
And you'd whisper to me,
"I will make you mine."

But wishes aren't horses,
they rarely come true .
And all I ask is just
a touch or a glance from you.

But wishes aren't horses
and how can I remind you
That once you loved me
and how much I loved you too?

But wishes aren't horses
and you don't seem to care
that the girl in love
is no longer there.

But wishes aren't horses
she's a ghost now you see
haunting your memories
with visions of me.

Annete,
This is a splendid piece filled with many images, deep emotion and a message as plain as the noses on our faces. Excellant work!!!!

What a lovely and moving poem. I love the imagery of wishes being horses.

I think I can understand the "inner message" here, Annette,
and I think you did a fine job of portraying it. At least it
"spoke" to ME.

Annette:
This somehow combines something fun and sad--very evocative. I'd love to hear what inspired it and how you came up with the relationship between wishes and horses.
