Choices

Today I walked on treetops
where only angels go
I felt you there beside me
you’re an angel too, I know
I took a couple pictures
but they did not catch the smell
I’ve been with me a lifetime
but I do not know me well

when you walk alone in silence
there’s a chance to reminisce
the promises you’ve broken
and the love you may have missed
and my life is winding down now
like the trail beneath my shoes
I’d wander on forever
if the path was mine to choose

there’s no time for second-guessing
when we’re adding up the blame
there’s so many different choices
yet, we all end up the same...
