The Love That We Once Knew

A sad poem of a lost love from long ago.

Paint me a picture,
Of the love that we once knew,
Gently mixing colours warm,
That make up me and you.

Starting with a background,
We knew from way back when,
Let us paint a sunrise,
A good place to begin.

A silhouette of trees,
With roots that will grow deep,
Of oaks, and pines, and weeping willow,
And oft' times it will weep.

As you paint with gentleness,
Remembering patience too,
Soon the painting is complete,
Of the love that we once knew.
