As a parttime custodian, one of my duties is shoveling snow - yuck. But there are some bright spots, as you can see.

Early to work
After a snowstorm;
I trudge with shovel and ice
Melt.
Work up a sweat,
Get the trash, then
Pause.
Through the blinds,
Morning sun
Peeks at a pink African
Violet on someone’s
Desk,
Sprinkling it with
Light.
Each stem wears a
Bangle of sparkling
Silver bracelets.
Buds glow with new
Growth.
A tiny cobweb traces
Fine threads of
Gold across a leaf.
I watch in wonderment
Until the sun
Shifts and with
Shovel in hand,
I step out into the
Snow,
Whistling.
