 Do you remember

the way they looked

pure hatred that filled

their eyes as they

looked at us

eyes so cold

the coldest tundra

could compare to how

it felt with their dead eyes

they would not see us

but they would see the

darkness that our eyes

held for defense against

the cold

we would chant the words

they told us and all the while

it hurt to repeat what they said

now before them we stand

as we address the cold cruelty

of those we surrounded ourselves

with and said your words they

wound our souls your

weapons shed the blood

of our kin

yet we regret the lives

that you have chosen

for us and the

hate that fills us

we finally choose to

give up this life

that you have made for us
