Memories of a fifties tv show

It was running home after school

watching Dick Clark and being "cool"

Bandstand was my favorite show

oh! how I miss that long ago

Bill Haley, The Four Tops

the Stroll and doing the Bop

Saddle Oxfords, and Poodle skirts

I miss those days so much it hurts

soda's at the local drive-in

haven't taste the same since then

going steady, Angora rings

love's first taste, and its sting

slumber parties, and freezing brassiere's

keeping secrets from little sisters ears

there was Ben Casey, and Dr. Kildare

suddendly I felt sickness in the air

and when Rickey Nelson came on TV

Ozzie and Harriet was where I wanted to be

singing and dancing to Ricky's songs

"Traveling Man" all night long

the boys played "Chicken" on "Dead mans Curve"

driving fast trying not to swerve

we had Mustangs, Chevy's, and Pink Cadillac's

crusing the streets with girls sitting in the back

football games at the local high

graduating and saying goodbye

yes the "50's" was the place to be

watching Bandstand on TV !

Thanks Dick for the memories!

( Wrote this a long, long time ago, for my favorite show "Bandstand "
