Remembering high school days,
Parade of faces, nicknames;
Friends relating in unique ways,
Though inside we were much the same.

Brutal underclass scuffles and scrapes,
Harsh but neccesary crucible of lesson;
Glowing moments of glory or escape,
Punctuated with rude words of derision.

Finally yielding to better times,
More peaceful, placid experiences;
Confidence built, relationships mined,
Afternoon adventures enhancing existence.

Senior year brought more awareness,
Desire to improve health, self;
A few true friendships savored,
Then forevermore stowed on memory's shelf.
After graduation we scattered on time's winds,
Rarely, if ever, seeing each other again.

All too true, I fear. Almost nobody is with us right up to the end. Keep on truckin' .
