Inspired by a photograph by Lynn Beirretter, a Pine Island photographer.
|
The Pelican
Head poised, she hovers
aged wings spread wide
before landing
in the protected mangrove
as dark waters lap beneath.
Framed and hung in the Beirretter Photography & Gallery in St. James City, Pine Island, April 2007

Nicely witten poem about my favorite bird in the whole planet.
Ft Myers Beach today was full of birds.
Blessings.

| I really like this. Concise imagery and that last line works on so many different levels for the reader. The piece reminds me a lot of Marianne Moore stylistically. Very good work. |
