For you Kid rock and roll while the band wails

She stopped and asked me to write her remembrance
On a day when she could read
Left open the mind
Planted one last seed

Captain is on the table
One glass to the brim
Three of us sitting
Just looking at the color with in

Cup runs over into the shadow of death
Last walk along the river
Taste the last breath
Each sips her last request

It takes a dreamer and a reacher
To see past the day
Inside the books we read
We learn how to write and pray

An't no saints in the water
No devils in the wine
Whiskey goes down
Burns a bit every time

Took a drink of cool water
Washed the soul of life
Read her words on the border
Wondering about her lonely nights

Time is the wild side of every dream
Walk the willow see the value
Catch a star in a seam
Faith I know you hold you close

Edge of knowledge past of freedom
Walk in the eyes of hope
Wanted more in life
Than a place to sleep

Passed the torch of wishes
Soul upon a mantle to keep
Passion in a bottle
Days in a book

Wisdom outside looking
Wonder what she took
No writer or star catcher
Just a heaven scream

Write the story
Count the pages
Live the life
Keep the dream

Felt her mind pass before me
Felt her breath in the wind
Tasted her hope
Forgave her the sin
There are no gardens
Where time will
Let you just be
But in writing you can set your soul free

Saw her smoke swirling to the heavens
As the book burnt its edge
Walked the path just thinking
I knew her when

Just whisper in the pages of a mind
Left in writing on a version
We may never find
Truth is never ending but it dies sometimes

Walt - this caused a shiver in my spine - a fine fulfillment to a friend's request. I love the last sentence: "Truth is never ending but it dies sometimes"...
