~~The following poem was written to a tender youth who had just dicovered that someone had stolen her favorite saddle.~~

Was it a saddle or innocence they took?
Was it a possession or your faith that shook?
As you shed your last tears as a little girl,
Let me say to you, "Welcome to our world."

For the first time, as you lock your door tonight,
The "click" will whisper tales that darken life;
As the sun hides behind the distant trees,
Your fear for every shadow will increase.

Soon you'll doubt if anything's worth believing.
You'll wonder if your dreams are worth achieving;
And thus will be your sentence for their crime.
The greatest thief of all is wasted time.

So get back on your horse, saddled or not;
And cling to all the things that you've still got.
Embrace the butterflies and dogwood blooms,
The mysterious glow of evening moons,

The tickle of the wind upon your face,
As you ride to your secret, favorite place.
Put your faith in the laughter of old friends,
 Letters that your boyfriend lovingly pens,

The magic smile that gives you girlish charm,
The safety found within your daddy's arms.
Still many things are worth believing in,
'Cause thieves can't steal the beauty that's within.

"The greatest thief of all is wasted time."
this is breathtaking poetry Eddie...sometimes
we cannot see the forest for the trees...
love the insight here...we have so much in life
that God has bestowed on us...and when we lose
one insignificant thing we fall apart...the saddle
wasn't all that important....loved this powerful write..
bless you...floria
