This was written as a dedication for a chat room I am part of at night. We recently had a get together and I wanted to commemorate our "room" history in some way - this is the result. Enjoy.

Memphis 2004

Night after night, as we gather together in Night Life

Each night brand new, filled with potential

Oldies, newbies, pervs, and fighters

You just never know and thatís the charm

Each person brings special qualities

From across the continent they come

Pennsylvania is the birthplace of an idea

Philly to be exact, the residence of our fearless leader

We share in each other lives, the good, the bad, and the downright nasty

We watch in awe as lives shift and change, coming together, ripping apart

With the loving guidance of the Mighty Moderator, we turn a new page every night

Writing the story of how we came to be, who we are, and where we go together

Some stay for years, some just a few days

Some get on cam and some donít

Some use their mics too much and some too little

Some prefer to type Ė itís whatever works best

We each have a different need, a different expectation

Say what you will about this eclectic group, we are friends

The dynamics are different, the medium new and savvy

But the friendships are well rooted and long lasting

Laughter, voices, chats, theme nights, contests, body parts, and toys

Music, events, politics, mic errors, the stuff of life

Fasten up your five-point harness, because you just never know where itís gonna go

Hell thatís half the fun of it

For the good of the room

Itís not just a motto; itís a way of thinking

Itís not just paying lip-service; here it means something

Itís not just idol chatter; itís silly, serious, and joyful too

For the good of the room Ė itís who weíve become

Rose, this is a perfect rendition of the room 'contents.' Much travel among all types of people. I prefer the one on one talk. I can't sustain many many voices in my mind or heart. But I know you are receiving satisfaction from your participation. Bill Murray

Oh, no, I run from those things. I don't even like the IMing that I do on occasion. Sounds like fun though. For someone else.

I hear ya, Rose, I had been in a room for quite a few years, knowing and getting to know all there, but I have moved on since, returning every now and then to see the same bickering group, so much for that room, let me move on again...well written and thought out, keep up this great work...Peace, Ed & Rufuz
