This poem is long overdue recognition and thanks to a beautiful friend. J, I am a better person today because of you.

Unsweetened black tea for you

Passion tea with Equal for me

One overflowing, cracked ashtray

Wrought iron chairs and table

Green umbrella opened, offering shade

And the ants, always the ants

Will the hot afternoon sun be shining down?

Will a popcorn thunderstorm let loose?

Will the table not wobble on the uneven brick patio?

Who will arrive first and scope out a table and ashtray?

Who will be stuck in rush hour traffic?

Who will desperately need the bathroom?

What are the topics today?  Laughter is guaranteed

Invariably, family comes into the conversation

Careers too, goals, dreams, frustrations

Politics, world affairs, music, movies

Current events, upcoming trips, what’s for dinner

Eyes that bare the soul, words that reveal the heart

Healing the hurts from so long ago

Coming to terms with where life is headed

Mentoring, guiding, and restoration of soul

A foundation of deep respect and admiration

Perhaps seeing in each other that which no one else can

Two souls whose paths have crossed, now journey together

Few could understand the significance

Of a simple tea and conversation

The stirring that occurs of the innermost self

To BE, to THRIVE, to NURTURE, to EXCEL

Such an unlikely pair we are, not peas in a pod

A passion for life that transcends the expectation

I’ll see you next Thursday my friend, cannot wait.

Really wonderful work. That kind of good friend is hard to find, and so is good coffee. I hope this friend knows how lucky he or she is, too.

A fine poem on the importance of friendship BUT you can't serious about drinking tea at Starbucks!!! (Actually I think they are banned by law from selling tea in England) Just pop over anytime with your friend and I will take you to Betty's tea rooms in Harrogate for a traditional cream tea (Assam or Darjeeling with scones, jam and clotted cream)

Rose,

Wonderful, magical times shared with a true friend! Your descriptive expression makes me feel like I'm there! "To BE, to THRIVE, to NURTURE, to EXCEL" ...friends help each other to do just that! You have a beautiful, tender heart and soul and your friend is as blessed as you are! Thank you for sharing a beautiful Thursday afternoon! Take care and save a cup of tea for me!

Great tribute to your friend Rose and I know the feeling about the ants and the table that doesn't wobble as nothign worse than coffee splashing on you.
You are very lucky as so many people travel the path of life and never find those true friends and most of all after finding one being able to keep them. Yeppers keeping them is so hard once you find them for sure is my thoughts here,
Again nice tribute here
