Love why do you run away And hide from me in the shade? Behind the trees,fallen leaves I look for you. Why do you play these silly games? Thrilling my heart,calling my name, only to turn and leave me lonely. I will not write another word of love. for within my pain will grow, hiding deepest feelings,I long to show. Love.... You are cruel,making me blind But not this time.......... This time I will rise above, give up my emotions of love. I don't need to fall,hear a soft voice call. You will not stir me anymore when you come knocking at my door. Too many tears fallen in vain, too much pain in the sound of your name. No Not this time love This time I will rise above

I agree with Jim.....and I love that saying... As hard as it is just put one foot before the other.....this was a touching and most deeply felt poem..Really beautiful poetic work.... Ty for sharing it....Dani

Powerful poem, Jan. It takes extreme courage to rise above love's fray. Many of us try; but I think few succeed.

Lisa certainly has a point. However, I remember the words of another poet, "it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." I think it was Robert Browning. Good luck with it anyway.

This was really good Jan! Enjoyed this. Rising above love is sometimes very hard to do. It's bite is sometimes worse than a pit bull's! Enjoyed. Lisa
