Comparing Seasons

Autumn leaves falling, dancing, carried by the breeze

Twirling, circling, a last goodbye to the trees

Where do they finally lay to rest?

On the ground or do they go

Gently floating downstream via the river below?

Sink or swim? The Salmon clamber upstream

To their spawning ground

A place of life or death those

Precious fish have found

Against the ebbing tide, against the river flows

The salmon find a place through waters deep and shallow

With the tide, with the flow, the leaves tumble downstream out to sea

Far from the safety of that branch upon the tree

I am a winter baby, Andrea. But I will always love Autumn as my favorite. Nothing compares to those burning leaves. Except maybe a special woman's eyes. Merry Christmas to you.

This is so wonderful and so much said about the ways of life as we the leaves fall from the safety of the trees our lives go two ways one a struggle to the "top" the other just to get thru or sometimes down to go back up/regroup. This is so methodical. I love this poem and the picture, both are gorgeous.
The best of life's offerings for you and your family

A marvelous poem, Andrea. Sometimes when life unexpectedly sweeps us downstream, we have to gather our courage like the salmon and struggle to swim back upstream before we are swept away.

Wishing you and your family a Most Joyous Holiday Season.

Andrea, Happy Holidays to you.
Yes everything has it's seasons, nature, people, animals, they tumble through the cycles without notice of change most of the time, encountering many different pathways.
Much like the salmon you speak of, sooner or later we'll all swim that final stream.
Awesome poetry Andrea.

I love this one, Andrea. I like how you've used the Salmon as an example:

One has to learn to swim well in live in order to survive.

Wishing you a Wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!
