On Top Of The World
And I recall that look upon his face
Filled with awe, excitement, wonderment and pace
As my heart quickened and began to race
He’d take me to other worlds, into outer space
The stories he told me
As I sat upon his knee
How a tiny acorn grew up to be
A mighty, majestic oak tree
From wicked witches to princess’s
Wilderness turning to paradises
Oblivion to welcome oasis
Smiles on children’s’ faces
Parched and hungry for more
Lapped up stories by the score
Famished, starving to explore
Wanting to be filled to the core
Pushed through time and space
Holding on with due grace
Waiting to emplace
Yearning to embrace
My past is my present
My present will be past
My future will be history
I give this to you, my legacy
I feel on top of the world
Into the realms of space I’m hurled
Blown by a fantasy of tales
Come, follow me along my trails
