I think it's a shame that human history is so steeped in blood.

It flows through
Our veins
Torrents of diamonds, rushing
Into a mindless crowd,
A blood thirsty crowd

Rivers of blood money
Flowing down his face
Wars are fought,
And sermons preached

Boulders are flung aloft
Into a blood red sky

Sunday schools
Full of dark intentions
Of men without crosses
To carry in their lives

His sweat was blood
His tears salted,
But his words were compassion

When they led him
To the cross

Blessed are the bloody
With their bloody wars,
With their bloody sermons
Soaked in lies

With no end in sight,
Blessed are the blind
