It's not for sale!

My heart is open
Chips lay on the table
You can take a piece of me
But you can't have my spirit
That is mine all mine alone

Don't criticize, don't be mean
All you have to do is ask
I will give you a piece of my puzzle
To fit your puzzle
Isn't that what friends do?

If I give you my spirit too
Then I will be left with nothing
To be and live a balanced life
You need body, mind, and spirit
Working together for the better

There is no paycheck for arrogance
Even those with contempt have to grow up
You don't have to spew hatred
You don't have to live that way
There are many friends with open arms

So you have a few more trinkets than others
But what is your spirit saying about you
No matter how you dress it
If you are weak inside
You are weak outside

We all know trinkets come and trinkets go
You must speak to others
Not with what have
But with your heart
So, I'll be keeping my spirit, it's not for sale

A most excellent enpowering write!
In concurrence, can give my all but that is one thing I cannot give
Everyone's spirit belongs solely to them.

Very wise. I sure found out that "material posessions" mean nothing. Thank you for sharing this offering, Pier. Love and peace to you.

You could let God look after it, and keep it safe for you.
Yup. Some leave their treasures, whilst other go to theirs..

This is an excellent poem, Pier. Our posessions mean nothing at the end of our lives but our spirit remains with us onto the next phase. We cannot give away our spirit and no one can steal it from us. The trick is to never let anyone subdue it, either, for it is our spirit that gives us strength and wisdom. I really like this poem!
Take care,
