An Easter Poem inspired by the greatest story ever told...Don
Journey to the tomb
By Don Tyson
They slowly walked toward the place his body rested.
The burden they carried in their arms
Was lighter than their burdened hearts.
How could this have happened?
He had promised them many things.
He said that he would change the world
and now their dreams were dead.
Tears stained their faces as they remembered how he suffered.
They took him at night and they beat him,
They mocked him, and tried him, and nailed him to a cross.
Now all they could do was prepare his body for eternity.
They came to where his body was and saw the open tomb.
What is this they asked each other?
What happened to the teacher?
Why is he no longer here?
Then they heard his tender voice.
They turned and saw his face.
Go and tell the others, He said.
My Father raised me from the dead.
They ran from there with hearts on fire.
What joy they shared together.
They knew that it was true .
Jesus was the Savior who would give them life anew.
He would give eternal blessings to those who would be true .
Today we have the guarantee, if only we believe
That Jesus paid the penalty and from sin has set us free.
