Ode To The Eagle
Eagles soaring
O'er Rockies white
Wings spread wide
In free flight.
What does he see?
So far below
Cold, cold shawls
Of mountain snow.
The river winds
Through tall pine trees
Sings soft in harmony
With the breeze.
No grizzly bears
They're sound asleep
Hibernating 'cause
Winter's deep.
They wait on spring
To wait and stretch
For the trout will be
So easy to catch.
The sun will be high
And the clouds will be light
As the eagle basks warmly
In his flight.
I do envy
What eagles hear and see
Mountains reaching heaven
A nest in a high tree.
The river is still singing
The wind still hums so soft
And the brand new eaglets
Sit in the high aerie loft.
Baby eagle heirs
For the Rocky Mountain throne
When ready for flight
They'll see what they own.
A kingdom with beauty
With wind in their sails
Reigning so freely
O'er meadows and dells.
Let the eagle forever be
Let the eagle forever fly
O'er the towering Rockies
And the cerulean sky.
