exactly as it was from memory

Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver was on the radio,
we had this big old crappy brown
station wagon
and both of us had long hair
you were driving
and there were two friends with us
i can't clearly remember who
we were driving to the dunes

and we walked in the soft sand
at the rivers edge
hand in hand

but then-
we were dancing in a darkened
bar room to somekind of
slide guitar and fiddle music
played by a bunch of cowboys,
slow and sweet
only distant neon signs
and their reflections
in puddles outside
lit the night

and then-
we were silent
kissing in tall grass
under a distant blackened sky
it was really humid and summertime
you ran your finger down my chest
the stars were in your eyes
i was yours
and you were mine †
